Rénoclimat helps you take advantage of financial assistance programs offered by both the AEE and the federal government. Financial assistance is granted if you carry out work aiming to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Important note: only owners who have requested an energy evaluation for their home before and after the renovation work can request financial assistance. Work performed prior to the first energy evaluation is not eligible for financial assistance.
Other subject:
The Agence de l’efficacité énergétique (AEE) offers financial assistance for the energy evaluation of your home. Valued at $300, the initial energy audit of your home conducted before renovation work begins is offered at a cost of $149.95 (plus taxes). The second audit, performed once the retrofit is complete, normally costs $150, but is offered free of charge if you have made significant improvements to the energy efficiency of your home.
Important note about the second evaluation
The grant amounts are calculated based on the type of energy used by the main heating system.
If you plan to convert your heating system between the first and second Rénoclimat evaluation, please ask your energy effiency advisor to provide you with the applicable calculation rules. Please note that work related to the conversion of a heating system is not eligible for financial assistance.
If you use electricity as the main source of heating, the amount will be determined by the degree of improvement between the first energy performance rating and the second, which is done once the renovation is complete.
For example:
The higher your initial performance rating, the greater the amount paid per point gained.

The calculation tool can be used by Hydro-Québec customers who use D and DT services and for customers using independent networks.
Caution - The calculation rules indicated above do not apply to projects that involve the conversion of a heating system (for instance, when replacing an oil heating system with an electric system). The calculated amount will be revised downward.
If you use natural gas as the main mode of heating, the financial assistance will be based on an estimate of the amount of gas you save.
For example, for work on the exterior cladding (insulation of walls, attic, basement, etc.), financial assistance will be $ 1 per m3 of natural gas saved.
Caution - The calculation rules indicated above do not apply to projects that involve the conversion of a heating system (for instance, when replacing an oil heating system with a gas heating system). The calculated amount will be revised downward.
Other amounts - Other amounts may be granted directly by Gaz Metro to its customers: for more information on financial assistance from the Fonds en efficacité énergétique de Gaz Métro.
If you use natural gas as the primary heating mode and you live in the Outaouais region, financial assistance will be determined by the difference between the two energy performance ratings (EnerGuide rating) before and after renovation work.

To find out more about the grant amounts offered by the federal government, visit the Web site of the ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes program. You must participate in the Rénoclimat program to be able to take advantage of federal assistance. Please note that the Rénoclimat program will continue to be offered.
To receive financial assistance from the Rénoclimat program, you must first obtain an energy performance rating for your home, which is done by an AEE technical consultant who will visit your home.
In order to be eligible for the financial assistance, you have 18 months to complete the retrofit, i.e. the work to be done to improve the energy efficiency of your residence outlined in the evaluation report. Once the work is complete, a second energy audit is carried out. It should lead to a higher rating, given the improvements made.
The second performance rating is free of charge if the renovations have led to significant improvements in the energy efficiency of your home. Refer to the important note about the second evaluation at the top of this page to find out the type of work that is not eligibles for receiving the second evaluation free of charge.
After the second evaluation, your energy efficiency advisor will give you and help you fill out the necessary forms to receive financial assistance from the AEE and the federal government.
You are eligible for the Rénoclimat program if you own a single family, semi-detached or row house that is your principal residence.
